Here I am, as I am each morning sitting on the left hand side of the recliner couch with my coffee cup filled. It is freshly brewed Cutters Point coffee of course, Fisherman’s Blend. My bible is open and I am reading over the prayer requests that the ladies filled out on Friday. This is my favorite time of day. Whinny, the long haired brown-black cat is looking at me. More like staring intently. Usually I am petting her by now and so she is waiting on me for that. My hands and thoughts are elsewhere, but I know she is there. She is always there. I stop for a moment and look at her face, into her eyes and I see even more her desire that I would pet her. So I do. She purrs with great satisfaction.
I went back to my prayers. I chuckled to myself as I wondered does God sometimes see us this way. Like a cat staring at him in hopes that he would see us and answer our prayers? And how those answered prayers seem to make us purr with delight and boast of His love and care for us.
Now Whinny is curled up and resting peacefully. We do that too when we know our God hears and answers. Next to him we sleep well rested and assured.
