Enjoyed this post. We keep a pretty close eye on current events as well. I don't know how people can miss some of the signs of the age. Sometimes I wonder if I'm strong enough to survive any kind of persecution...we've been lulled into such a false…

Lynn, I agree. I too have this sense of urgency about me when it comes to the gospel and our freedom to come together in a congregational corporate expression of faith. Not much longer and we will be constrained. Great article for thought and prayer…

Amen - I've heard many people I respect say the same. I think in history we see that in times of persecution many come to a true saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. I might know what will happen in my lifetime, but I do know what I must do while I'm a…

Lynn, I just read this in my e-mail inbox. I do believe that we are coming into a very important time in history for God's church, and we do have the opportunity to stand for what we believe. But I do also believe that God is going to pour out His s…

Lynn, I keep thinking about that review for your book, and I intend to do it. =)

I am beginning to know how you feel with all your business of writing plus all of your other obligations. It's tough to cover everything when we get into our "busy seasons."

We are going to put on a Valentine fund raiser for the Writer's Edge at our church, and I was thinking about giving away one of your books for the best written Valentine piece, which we will be reading to everyone at the fund raiser. I think I will bring that up to the class on the next section, so they have a little more incentive for writing for the fund raiser.

Hope you are doing well. Have you heard from Alease lately? I tried to email her a few times, but don't hear much from her.

Talk to you soon! =)

You are a talented writer and you have a lot of good information for beginners in writing. You must of been writing for awhile because it shows. I hope I can get there some day but it takes time. I read the books I like to write about and I listen to the words that they use for their time. When I write I use words for our time and this way you leave behind a time finger print of when it was written. My mother got me started writing from her stories that she had started and I just finished them up. That how I got started and I just do it for a hobby.
When the weather is cold and wet i just sit down to a hot cup of coffee or chocolate and begin to write stories or comment on things that God puts on my heart. My mom has made comments on publishing my stories but i have not put it to thought and if I did, it would be for our family archives. I have alot of hobbies and one of them is fine arts and now I do models for my miniture figurines. I have never been good at one thing only and thats how my life has been. I have fun at each and everyone of them and thats my problem.

Lynn, have you read Alease's blog on wordpress lately? Did you read my Winds of Change blog? Well, you were right on when you said she would switch churches and I would be getting more into video production. Now all that is left, is for Alease to move to Cali. Thank you for speaking into our lives. And I do believe you are a very talented writer, and God will bless that! It's His gift to you!

Blessings!

About Lynn Squire

Lynn Squire grew up in Southern Alberta. Early in her life, she understood who she was in light of a Holy God, and that she needed a Jesus Christ as her savior. This relationship became the driving force of her life, as long as she kept “self” out of the way. Nonetheless, God led her through educational valleys, across plains of complacency, and over mountains of life experiences, to her present location, California. There she lives with her husband and three children.

Lynn’s first book, Management of Resources for Horsemanship Programs, sold out and is no longer in publication. She also wrote articles for horsemanship periodicals and websites, and contributed to several horsemanship manuals. She co-authors a fiction-writing column in the Ready Writer. On Fridays, her short stories can be found on the blog circle, Friday Fiction. In 1999, she received an Author’s Award from the Horse Daily Planner Publications, and later a diploma from the Institute of Children’s Literature. She graduated from Trinity Western University with a B.A. majoring in Business Administration.

Lynn produces two monthly e-zines: Home, Hobbies, and Asundry for moms; and Faith, Fiction, Fun, and Fanciful for anyone who likes to read short fiction and devotionals. The latter e-zine runs a chapter from a novel each month. You can sign up for these e-zines at: http://visitor.constantcontact.com/d.jsp?m=1101687495630&p=oi

Wanna-Be Author, What Publishing Path Should You Take?

You have this great idea. It's been growing in your heart and mind for years and finally you've committed it to paper. What now?

Determine why you wrote what you wrote. I know, this sounds simplistic, but I want you to dig deeper than "because I've always wanted to." Maybe you wrote it because someone encouraged you, telling you that your story could be used to help others. Maybe you felt compelled to write it, as though if you didn't get it out you'd burn up inside. Maybe you wrote

Moabite Writers: Self-Published Vs Traditionally Published

We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart. Jeremiah 48:29

The nation of Moab had plenty of opportunity to know God. They were descendants from Lot, Abraham's nephew. Many of the Israelites lived amongst these people at various times through history (for example, Ruth's first husband's family).

But the Moabites trusted in their works and their treasures, rather than trusting in God.

Writing as a Ministry Part II

Please accept my apologies, dear readers, for my absence last week. We had a family medical emergency that led to many sleepless nights and long days in three different hospitals. But I'm back now and ready to move forward.

Marketing a Ministry

In my previous post on writing as a ministry, I wrote about putting my writing under the authority of my local church. Using a business analogy, the leadersh… Continue
