When did you start writing for God?
It has been a slow long journey. Writing short stories and poems as a kid, then as God became more of a focus for me late in my high school years my writings started to reflect this growth.
What is your primary writing genre?
Fiction, Non-fiction, Fantasy, Other
Are you published?
not currently published.
As soon as I actually finish a couple of my stories I hope to work on being published.
I was born off the coast of madagascar in a slavers ship heading for spain. Life was a blur for me as a young man, I cant even remember my mothers face as she died in childbirth, and my father was probably one of many of the sailors I was living amidst, but none volunteered to take ownership of me. The Captain allowed me to live, as my mom was dear to him for some reason. I was promoted to cabin boy early on, and stayed there for many years until we stopped on a warm Island in the Pacific. There I volunteered on an east india trading ship, thankful to be away from the slavers and their ferocity for control and money. After 5 years I became the 2nd mate, and handled the captains most prized cargo and documents. We were successful and I enjoyed the privelages of an officer. with my earnings I was able to receive a loan and purchaed my own vessel from the east india trading company which came with a contract for shipping.
I picked out a great crew of sailors and Captained my Vessel Serenity for 8 years when off the coast of africa, on a small Island with no name, I met the love of my life. She joined me on my ship as cook, which was a great relief to the men for the last cook burned water, and had a smell about him. Sailors normally wont allow women to be aboard, but her cooking won them all over. 2 years later we married in Costa Rica, and within 5 years we had 4 girls. I then stopped shipping and started hauling provisions for various missionaries. Inspired by many ministers I started pursuing instruction in being a Christian, and soon found myself ministering and preaching in every port call and Marina.
Ok, maybe things didnt happen exactly like this, but my name is David Campbell, and I consider myself a Privateer for God. I accept His directions and Instructions. and Follow His Word as best I can. My ship is my life, my passengers are my family, a true clan of warrior women. I have been in the ministry for several years, working as assistant pastor and helper in any way I can to support the ministry. I am curently a CMC (conference ministerial candidate) for the Freemethodist Conference, working towards Ordained Minister sometime in my future. (or where and whatever God designs for me.)

In His service
The Dread Privateer Campbell
and my clan of warrior women.

A day in the fog

The day started out misty and cold, but high 70’s to low 80’s expected by noon. So my wife and my little girl prepared for a sailing trip to James Island in our little 24 foot Islander sailboat. My other two girls were with our friend in his boat who sailed out ahead of us about 30 minutes ago. This was an exciting time for me as this would be my first solo trip. By solo I mean as Captain. Prior to this I had always sailed with Kevin who has several years experience under his belt. We pack in th… Continue

In His Presence

The rising sun shined bright this morn,
As I opened my weary eyes,
I looked out from my resting place,
To scan the dawns early skies.

Rocking gently with the waves,
My boat shifting from side to side,
Clouds sway with each wave,
As I delight in my morning ride.

Deeply I inhale the morning air,
Salty breezes fill my mind,
Tomorrows worries drop like stones,
Future concerns I could not find.

Caught up in the moment,
The wind, waves, and salty air,
My mind could only fathom,
His presence, my onl… Continue
