Writer's Edge

Glorifying Christ One Blog at a Time

Now that's a new thought, that writing is part of the Great Commission. But how true!! The written Word is the Good News that we are to take into all the world. And we have the great privilege for the Lord to use our creativity (that He gave us in the first place) to bring the message of salvation to the whole world. I have used my gift of writing primarily to children, but also to the elderly in an Assisted Living Home.
This thought puts a new responsibility on us, that everything we write brings glory to Him, and brings our readers into a closer relationship with the Savior.

Yes. That is the idea: "...everything we write brings glory to Him, and brings our readers into a closer relationship with the Savior." We want our writing to bring Him glory because He is the "Author" of our writing! =)

Great Commission of Writing.
this thought brings to Mind
Genesis 1
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God
moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Not only is our comission to go and share the Good news, but God gave us authority to go to everyone, in His name, to all people in all walks of life. To communicate at their level, the good news. and that Authority to speak into their lives, comes from the same authority to create light upon the dark face of the deep. and this commission is to go and share. that instruction fits very perfectly in our ability to share through the written word. for the Word has power, even ours, as we stand in the Authority of He who sent us.

This is an encouragement to us all. not all of us can be a Frank Peretti, Ted Decker or Donita k. Paul. but howerver we write, or whatever we write, can reach people, and in so doing have the chance to change lives.

Very well said, or should I say "Very well written." =)

I absolutely agree with you there! Especially in today's world where people spend more time on FB or MySpace, etc., than actually meeting with someone. You never know who you'll touch. Plus, it's God's original way of reaching us, and what's good for Him, works for me!
